In Pre-Kindergarten we love to share our faith. Christ is the focal point of the classroom!
Pre-Kindergarten Highlights:
Pre-Kindergarten is more than learning our "ABC's and 123's". We learn many social skills that will last us a life-time. We learn to share, how to be a good friend, and how to work successfully in a group during centers.
We will learn important math concepts: one-to-one correspondence, sorting, shapes, number identification, etc.
The children will be so excited to tell you about the "Letter of the Week" each week because we focus every week on a certain letter, and all of our lessons, activities, and centers will be focused around that letter. Here are some exciting examples of center activities. For the letter "Cc", do not be surprised to see a real tent in our classroom for "Camping Center"! This is always a very fun center for the children. Letter "Ee" will bring excitement to the children when they sing about "Elmo the Elephant", and then during centers practice their eye-hand coordination as they take turns throwing peanuts to Elmo Elephant. During letter "Ff" week we will focus on "Fire Safety". At one point we will even be visited by the local firemen! This is a good age for you to work with your child on knowing 911, your phone number, and your address.
The children will love being Scientists on Wednesday when we have our Science Experiment. The experiment will go along with the letter of the week.
Throughout the school year your child will also learn to read 20 High Frequency Words! The children will come home with little booklets and will really READ to you! This is always something the children get excited about!
We have other special classes throughout the week including Physical Education, American Sign Language, Technology, and Spanish.
Most importantly, while your child is in our loving care, we will be focusing on and learning all about our very best friend, Jesus!
I look forward to working with your child this year!
