PALS Festival This exciting contest is held annually at Shepherd of the Hills on the first Thursday in March. Bands and choirs from Lutheran Schools around the state come to Shepherd of the Hills to participate in this contest. This year's PALS (Performing Arts in Lutheran Schools) Festival will take place on March 1st. Both bands will have a chance to perform for judges. The judges will provide comments and suggestions to help us grow as individual musicians and as a band. We may even win a trophy! The festival happens during the school day.
SALSA Festival Concordia Lutheran School, Lutheran High School-San Antonio, and Shepherd of the Hills join together to present the SALSA (San Antonio Lutheran School Arts) Festival. The festival is held annually at Lutheran High School on the first day of National Lutheran Schools Week. This year's SALSA Festival will be Sunday, March 4th. The festival includes evening rehearsal and concert that Sunday.
Shepherd of the Hills offers three bands for instrumentalists to use their God-given talents.
Blue Band (Fifth Grade) - The Blue Band meets during the school day. Students learn to use their instruments and to read music. Click here to read more about the Blue Band.
White Band (Sixth Grade through Eighth Grade) - Students in the White Band already know how to play their instruments and read music. This band rehearses during the school day and plays several concerts a year, including contests and festivals. Click here to read more about the White Band.
Shepherd's Band - The church band helps lead the worship in church services, usually twice a month. This band rehearses Tuesday evenings beginning at 6:00. Instrumentalists who play at or above the high school level will fit right in this band. Click here for a rehearsal and playing schedule.
