In addition to regular weekend services, Shepherd of the Hills offers special services every year. Shepherd of the Hills follows a liturgical church calendar, meaning that certain Bible-based events are celebrated every year, along with certain days of national significance. Although the regular calendar begins Jan. 1, the church calendar begins with the first Sunday of Advent, the season leading up to Christmas, because God's plan of salvation began its course when Christ entered our world.
Advent mid-week services prepare our hearts for Christmas. Advent services are at 12:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. the Wednesdays of the three weeks leading up to the week containing Christmas. These services are usually 30-35 minutes.

New Year's Eve worship is at 7 p.m.
Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent with services at 12:15 and 7 p.m. The service is immediately followed by the imposition of ashes on the forehead.
