Nick Arnold - Youth DirectorMy name is Nick Arnold and I'm the Director of Youth Ministry here at Shepherd of the Hills.

To some, youth ministry might seem like it's all about hanging out with kids, staying up all night, eating ungodly amounts of pizza, and somehow managing to fit in a 5-minute devotion about Jesus. But I see my job as more than just "glorifed babysitting."

I truly believe that the best way to minister to kids is to partner with parents and give kids opportunities to grow. I believe that God can use middle school and high school students to do some amazing things that make me, like John the Baptist, say, "He must become greater; I must become less."

The key to my style of ministry is relationships. We have plenty of programs for kids to get plugged into, but these programs are just excuses to build relationships. I want to allow kids to develop a deeper relationship with God, with each other, and with adults who will invest positively in their lives.

A litte bit more about me...

I recently graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with an MA in Youth, Family, and Culture. I also hold a BA in Communication Technology (web design, basically) from The University of Texas at Arlington. I have a heart for reaching out to unchurched kids and seeing God work in to transform the lives of students. I'm excited to see what God has in store for things here at Shepherd.
