Tim Eickstead serves Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran School and Childcare in both the role of Director of Operations and Child Care Director. He has served at Shepherd of the Hills for 30 years.  In the beginning he was a Principal and taught anything from 1^st to 4^th grade. Later, as the program grew, he became the Principal and Child Care Director.  Mr. Eickstead feels it is a blessing to have seen thousands of families pass through the program at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran School and Childcare over the years, many of whom have kept in touch by being a part of our church, high school, coming back to festivals or visiting, and now, updating us on their growth through social network technology and e-mail. 

 Mr. Eickstead’s first call was to Our Savior, New Orleans, where he taught fourth grade. After one year of experience, he was Called by the congregation at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church to become the principal of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran School, a budding school on the booming northwest side of San Antonio. It has been a tremendous journey and an awesome privilege.

 He received his B.A. from Concordia College, River Forest, IL with a degree in both Elementary and Secondary Education. Mr. Eickstead majored in Social Sciences, with a minor in Psychology.  While serving as Principal at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran School, he did graduate work in Administration from the University of Texas, San Antonio, completing his Master’s Degree in 1995.

 In his free time he enjoys hunting and fly-fishing with his two sons or traveling in a 5th Wheel Camper with Mrs. Eickstead.  She is on a quest to see all of America's National Parks.  In the summer they love getting out of the Texas heat and camping in the mountains of Wyoming or Montana. It is a love of theirs to enjoy the varied scenery of God’s creation!  They also love being with their grandbabies, Tommie, Kylie, Gatling, and Austin.  Who knew grand babies could be so much fun!
