Summer Spirit 2012
Dear Parents
Shepherd of the Hills is planning a summer program with field trips, educational enhancement, game room, technology, swimming, special days and more! Our summer program is available to children age six weeks to those entering grade 8 in the fall. We are blessed to have experienced childcare staff to work with our students during the year or on an annual basis each summer. The staff is excited about adding special free sports camps, art, cooking and even fishing trips for children during this summer’s program. They are looking forward to the opportunity to again work with the children and are diligently preparing a very special time for the children they serve.
The summer program at Shepherd of the Hills begins on June 4, 2012 and ends on August 21, 2012. The childcare is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a variety of options for parents whose children may need a few days of care a month, a couple of weeks or care all summer. This summer’s program is titled, “Summer Spirit”!
In our summer program there is gymnastics, Tae Kwon D0, Hapkido, guitar, tennis and swimming lessons offered at an additional charge. The advantage of hosting these activities during the childcare day is one of convenience to our families. By offering the lessons on our campus, you are assured that your child is taught by a qualified individual who has experience and undergone a complete background check.
In addition to open swimming times at Green Tree Tennis and Swim Club, the children in two year old childcare through fourth grade will have a chance to do wade pool (two’s, three’s and four’s) and water slide activities (age five to grade four).
There will be a variety of field trips for children who were in Kindergarten through grade seven this past school and childcare year. The cost of these field trips is included in the monthly fee (except for children who are on an hourly or daily rate plan. These children will be charged a $8.00 per trip fee.) On campus, our game room with pool table, air hockey table, foosball table, board games and electronic games will be open to students in grades kindergarten to those entering grade eight.
If your child desires to attend one of the sports camps at our Lutheran High School located at the corner of Babcock and Camp Bullis Road, we will provide transportation to and from those sports camps. The information about these camps is available by going to www.lhssa.org, clicking on Athletics at the top header and then click on Mustang Summer Camps on the left side of the page.
A highlight of the summer week at Shepherd of the Hills is Chapel with Mr. B! Each week the children have the opportunity to come together in a contemporary worship setting and celebrate through song, story and prayer the love of God. We want this time to be one where God’s children learn about the world God has created and the love He has for them, a love so great He sent His only Son, Jesus to be their Savior! We encourage parents, grandparents or other family to attend this service whenever possible.
May God bless our time together this summer!
Working for Christ,
F. Timothy Eickstead – Director
Audri McEwen – Assistant Director
P.S. Please remember every Wednesday we offer a complimentary donut and coffee, or chocolate milk from 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. as a mid-week treat.
P.P.S. Mark your calendar for our annual Parent Luncheon on Thursday, July 26th!
